"LOVE...AND THE CATS MEOW" EXHIBIT - Through Friday, March 15

"LOVE...and the Cats Meow," an exhibit of photography by Joanne Zascone of Caldwell,  which aims to raise awareness of the well-being of feral and homeless cats,  will be on display in our community room through Friday, March 15. Zascone, who considers herself an amateur photographer, became interested in photography when she was given a Brownie camera at the age of 8. To this day, she only works with traditional film cameras and develops prints in her own basement darkroom. Exhibit is open for viewing during regular library hours.

WOODEN SIGN PAINTING - Friday, March 1, at 6 pm

GUEST AUTHOR: LINDA RAWLINS - Wednesday, March 6, at 7 pm

Fairfield physician/author Linda Rawlins visits the library for a presentation on Misty Treasure , the newest addition to her Misty Point mystery novel series based in the fictitious coastal town of Misty Point, New Jersey. A renovation in Misty Manor's old library unearths an old treasure map, which is followed by the discovery of a body and mysterious photo under the boardwalk. Officer Nick Taylor joins forces with her cohorts to search for the hidden treasure and the killer before tragedy strikes again. RSVP on our website.

FUNDRAISER TRIP TO SEE GUYS & DOLLS - Sunday, March 10 

The Friends of the Roseland Free Public Library present a trip to see a live performance of Guys and Dolls at Music Mountain Theatre in Lambertville, NJ. Price per person is $60, which includes transportation, a light lunch, and a ticket for the matinee. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Roseland Free Public Library. Tickets must be purchased ahead of time and are available at the circulation desk on a first come, first served basis. Limited to 45 guests. 
  
Bus will leave the library at 12:45 pm sharp, so please arrive at the library by 12:30 pm. Guys and Dolls at Music Mountain Theatre begins at 3 pm. After the show, the bus will return to the library. 

Guys and Dolls is an oddball romantic comedy that takes the audience from the heart of Times Square, to the cafes of Havana, deep into the sewers of Manhattan, before returning everyone back to where they belong! See how hard-core gamblers, a straight-laced missionary, and the quest for cash for an epic craps game all come together to spin this entertaining tale.

WALKING FOR FITNESS -  Mondays at 10 am

Join a fun, new group fitness activity that meets every Monday at 10 am. Weekly program features a 45-minute low-impact walking workout (streamed on video). Ideal for beginning fitness levels. ADULT CHAIR YOGA - Mondays at 11 am

Join us for some introductory chair yoga! We will be streaming videos of chair yoga workouts. Hosted by Sandra Michelsen, who conducts our meditation and wellness classes.  Participants are encouraged to bring towels and water bottles. RSVP on our website's homepage under "Event Registration."

NEW! MINDFUL COLORING FOR ADULTS - Tuesdays at 1 pm

Escape the stress of every day life with some mindful coloring at the library! Join us for a relaxing afternoon of coloring, herbal tea, snacks, and meditative music. With its soothing and meditative qualities, coloring is a fun and easy activity that can help lower your stress levels and push negative thoughts aside. RSVP on our website under Event Registration.

GUIDED MEDITATION - Thursdays, March 7 & 21         

Relax and center yourself with a guided meditation session as you carve out some personal time for yourself! WINTER T'AI CHI CHIH - Tuesdays through March 12 

Accredited instructor Lee Bergman returns for fall T'ai Chi Chih, an exercise of slow and gentle movements based on ancient wellness principles of the Far East! Potential benefits include stress/tension reduction, better balance, muscle/joint toning, improved circulation and flexibility, and overall sense of wellness. 
BEGINNING STUDENTS: 9:30-10:15 am
CONTINUING STUDENTS: 10:30-11:15 am

WOMEN OF NEW YORK - Wednesday, March 13, at 7 pm
 

Celebrate Women's History Month with a presentation by historian and native New Yorker Marty Schneitt, who will talk about different women who left their mark on New York and American history as a whole. RSVP on our website's homepage.

TOUCH OF IRELAND - Sunday, March 17, at 2 pm 

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with an afternoon of Celtic music featuring critically acclaimed vocalist and harpist Aideen O'Donnell. Trained as a professional musician in her native Ireland, O'Donnell has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center Penthouse, NJPAC, The Helix in Dublin, and other venues. In addition to her solo work, she teaches piano and harp and is the two-time winner of the All-Ireland Harp Competition, among other international awards. RSVP on our website.

Relationship expert Dr. Barbara Tucciarone will visit the library to discuss   Before You Love Again  , her book on relationships - overcoming the heartbreak of a breakup and the ensuing feelings of emptiness, breaking patterns of unhealthy relationships, cultivating a healing and forward-moving mindset, and more. ESSENTIAL OILS SPRING CLEANING - Wednesday, March 20, 1 pm


Spring is right around the corner, welcoming all things fresh and new! For many of us, that means it's time for spring cleaning. Geeta Lahiri returns to the library to discuss natural alternatives for cleaning your home and will show you how to make three essential oil-powered cleaners to jumpstart your spring cleaning -- carpet freshener, soft scrub, and all-purpose cleaner. TELEPATHY PROGRAM - Wednesday, March 20, 7 pm

Rosemarie Rubinetti Cappiello, author of  Speaking from Spirit , will give an informative presentation about telepathic communication -- what it is and how it can be used to strengthen and heal relationships. " We all have the ability to communicate without words... through thoughts and feelings and knowing. Some of us are naturally more telepathic (and communicative) than others, but all of us can learn to utilize thought communication in a more e ff ective and profound way," says Cappiello, an intuitive/medium/certified hypnotherapist.

DRAWINGS BY JERRY WINICK ON EXHIBIT
On View: Monday, March 25 through April

Jerry Winick, proprietor and art teacher of Pencilworks Studio in Little Falls, brings his photorealistic pencil drawings to the library's community room for a new exhibit. It is not unusual for Winick to spend up to three months on a single drawing as he captures the finest of details with an extra sharp pencil point. He has won more than 300 awards for his drawings, many of which have found their way into various private collections and museums in the New York metropolitan area. Meet the artist during a special opening reception on Saturday, March 30, from 2 to 4 pm. Exhibit is open during regular library hours (Monday-Thursday 9 am-9 pm; Friday 10 am-5 pm; Saturday 10 am-3 pm). RSVP for the reception on the homeage of our website, under Event Registration.

HEARTMATH MEDITATION WORKSHOP WITH LINDA SERCARZ
Thursdays, March 21, March 28, and April 4 at 7 pm

Certified HeartMath coach mentor Linda Sercarz will lead a workshop on HeartMath meditation, which will teach students how to self-regulate and alleviate stress through simple heart-focused meditation. Participants must attend all three sessions:
Week 1: Learn background, technique, and some science behind HeartMath
Week 2: Review techniques and discuss any challenges, insights, or progress.
Week 3: Again review progress, and goals, as well as any obstacles, insights, or breakthroughs.

Library assistant Zac Cascio will be available to show you the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other tech resources any Monday or Friday from 9 am to noon. Learn how to safely and effectively navigate social media; create resume templates, letters, and spreadsheets; utilize valuable cell phone, iPad, and Kindle features, such as calendars and more.
