NATURE/WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT


Nature/wildlife photographer Jane Aguilar Murphy brings her amazing photos to the library for the month of September. Meet the artist during a special opening reception on Saturday, September 7, from 2 to 4 pm. RSVP on our website.

FALL T'AI CHI CHIH - Tuesdays, September 10 - November 19 


Lee Bergman, Roseland resident and accredited T'ai Chi Chih instructor, returns a round of Fall T'ai Chi Chih classes! Cost is $70 for all 10 weeks. There will be no class on November 5 or 26. Make-up (if needed) will be on December 3.  
BEGINNING STUDENTS: 9:30-10:15 AM
RETURNING STUDENTS 10:30-11:15 AM

T'ai Chi Chih is a series of gentle movements (19 altogether and a single pose) based on ancient wellness principles of the Far East. It is believed to have various health benefits including increased focus, flexibility, muscle strength, improved balance, and more! This is not a library program - to register, please contact Lee Bergman at leebergman7@hotmail.com.

FREE PRACTICE PSAT - Saturday, September 14, at 10:30 am


 

Encourage your student to take a free, full-length practice PSAT administered by C2 Education of West Caldwell. Note: The test will take place in Roseland Free Public Library's Community Room. To RSVP, please email WEST.CALDWELL@C2EDUCATE.COM and provide the student's name, school and grade in fall, and the best phone number to be reached. Arrive about 30 minutes early at the library the day of the test and bring a calculator. Test will be 3 hours long. All tests will be graded, and depending on how many students take the test, the results will be available immediately following the test, or students can sign up for a later date to go over the results at no charge.

FOOTBALL TRIVIA NIGHT - Wednesday, September 11, at 7 pm

Sports collector and aficionado Tom Shanker returns to the library with a fun night of Football Trivia. He will also bring some autographed helmets, footballs, and photographs, and share lots of entertaining and informative stories related to those items. Discussion will focus on the local Jets and Giants, but will also include hall-of-famers and professional players from other teams. 1967: SUMMER OF LOVE - Monday, September 16, at 7 pm



TV, radio, and print journalist Evan Weiner returns with a presentation on the legendary year 1967: Summer of Love or Not? Travel back to a year that Weiner calls "a tale of two worlds" with extreme contrasts ranging from peace-loving hippies to violence both at home and abroad. Riots erupted in various cities, while unpopular wars raged in Vietnam and the Middle East. Take a look at San Francisco, the epicenter of the hippie movement, as well as headlines of the day ranging from the space race and the first successful heart transplant to the Beatles' release of Sgt. Pepper and other cultural phenomena. RSVP on our website.

FINANCIAL PLANNING SEMINAR - Tuesday, September 17, at 7 pm


Jill Cooley, a financial planner with Prudential, will present a free financial planning seminar titled "Is Your Financial House in Order?" WEDNESDAY NITE BOOKWORMS - Wednesday, September 18, at 7 pm


Our Library Book Club will welcome fall with Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, a murder mystery/romance set during 1969 in a quiet town along the rugged North Carolina coast. If you love rich descriptions of nature with a good dose of intrigue, then this novel is for you!

Are you currently unemployed or contemplating a career change? Claudia Yarborough, a representative of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will give an overview of programs and services that are available to entrepreneurs/small business owners. WALKING FOR FITNESS -  Mondays & Wednesdays at 10 am

Join a fun, new group fitness activity that meets every Monday and Wednesday at 10 am. Weekly program features a 45-minute low-impact walking workout (streamed on video). Library assistant Zac Cascio will be available to show you the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other tech resources any Monday or Friday from 9 am to noon. Learn how to safely and effectively navigate social media; create resume templates, letters, and spreadsheets; utilize valuable cell phone, iPad, and Kindle features, such as calendars and more.
