Where the Crawdads Sing
By Delia Owens
This book had me until the end! I thought I knew the ending, but I was wrong. Not that this was a problem; I enjoyed the book because it wasn’t predictable. The story captivated me until the last word!
In this novel, you are taken on a tour of the wild and beautiful North Carolina marsh, which is unfamiliar to many. The Clark family has barely eked out a tenuous life on Barclay Cove. One by one, family members leave the family shack that barely stands, and little Kya is left to fend for herself at a tender age. Her intelligence and pluckiness help her to survive the life she has been given. As she grows up, she learns the hard way it isn’t the flying creatures or the four-footed creatures she needs to be wary of, but it is the two-footed ones who can ruin your very existence!
